What I Do

As a Cultural and Hip-Hop Archivist, my work transcends the simple collection of artifacts and the organization of information; it is a passionate journey into the heart of Black culture and its vibrant evolution, particularly within the dynamic world of Hip-Hop. I dedicate myself to meticulously documenting an extensive array of materials that tell our collective stories—vinyl records that echo with the sounds of the past, rare photographs that capture fleeting moments of brilliance, the rich textures of fashion that give voice to identity, graffiti that transforms urban landscapes into canvases of expression, and oral histories filled with the lived experiences of those who’ve shaped our narrative.

Yet, my role is not confined to the archival tasks alone; I engage deeply and creatively with cultural history, weaving together historical narratives and artistic expression to create a tapestry that reflects the diverse voices within our community. I view myself as both a storyteller and a custodian of cultural memory, fully committed to the mission of ensuring that the powerful influence of Black culture and hip-hop not only endures but flourishes. It is essential to me that these compelling narratives are not merely preserved but are celebrated and communicated in ways that foster connection, understanding, and appreciation, keeping these vital legacies alive for future generations to explore and cherish.
